Press Conference introducing Daniele Delli Carri and Attilio Tesser

This afternoon, in the press room of Stadio Nereo Rocco, a press conference was held to introduce the new technical director, Daniele Delli Carri, and manager Attilio Tesser. The event was preceded by an introduction from the general director of the sporting side, Alexander Menta.

Menta

“These past months have been very tough, and we are in a moment of great difficulty. As a club, we had the duty to make some decisions. We are looking ahead, and we want to move forward with confidence and calmness to achieve the goal of saving Triestina, which is the most important thing. This led to the choice of Daniele Delli Carri as technical director and Attilio Tesser as coach.”

Delli Carri

“There’s not much to say but a lot to work on, across the board, 360 degrees, together with a coach I know well, just as you know him well. We must focus solely on saving Triestina. It’s the most important thing, and there’s no other way to achieve it except through hard work. That’s the only path I know, and the coach knows it too. It will be up to us to do everything possible to help the current players rise to the challenge. It’s a great and exciting challenge, and I didn’t make it a matter of contracts. Whether you’re saving a team or competing for the top, you need to win.

I won’t talk about the transfer market because we have four important matches ahead, and we need to focus on earning points. Discarding this team at this moment is neither correct nor fair because this is a good team that needs revitalization. We’ll reflect on everything later, together with the director and coach, and if interventions are necessary, we will act. Right now, we need to work to help the players return to being their best selves. The standings are harsh, and thinking about the market or dismissing these four games as meaningless is the worst thing we could do.”

Tesser

“I am happy to be here, to have returned, and to try, together with my staff, to contribute to achieving the best possible results for the team. This sentiment made me accept this challenge: the challenge of someone who cares about these colors and wants to give their utmost commitment to making a difference. I thank the club for giving me this opportunity again. The situation is tough, but we accepted it because we believe in it, we believe we can do something useful. We will put everything we have at the service of the badge, which is what I asked of the players this morning. The badge comes first.

If I’m here, it’s because the club and I have evidently spoken and clarified things, sharing the common goal of doing our best. The past is the past; what matters now is to perform well and push hard. I’ve just arrived today, and there are many new players compared to last year. I’ll need some time to get to know them, but my first priority is building a strong relationship within the locker room. That’s where unity of purpose begins, when everyone sets aside a bit of their ego and prioritizes the team. We, as a team and as Triestina, have a duty to the ownership that invests in us, to the badge, and to our fans, who deserve respect.

When a locker room is clear, serene, and united in its goals, that’s when good things can happen. Of course, it’s a bit unfortunate that we have a match in three days without a typical training week, but that’s no excuse. Together with my staff, I’ll look for the best solutions to achieve immediate results. The standings are grim, so we need to approach every match with confidence, regardless of the opponent. No excuses, no lowered heads.

Today we had our first training session, and the team responded well, with good intensity and participation from everyone. This is a fresh start, and we have an important match in three days that I hope can be a turning point. We need points from the start, no matter the opponent. Every game has three points at stake, and we must fight for them with determination, mentality, and grit. Returning from Padova with a positive result, as I hope and will demand of the team, would send a strong signal to everyone, the team, the standings, and the environment.

As for the condition of the Rocco pitch, we hope those responsible will find a solution to avoid injuries. If the field is bad for us, it’s bad for our opponents too, so it’s democratic, no excuses. Do I ask the fans to support us? Of course. Their return is fundamental, but I have no doubt they’ll be there. It’s up to us to bring them back to our side immediately. Their passion is important, and we know it. Last year, even when we played far from home, two thousand fans regularly followed us. It’s up to us to show we believe in ourselves, with seriousness and professionalism, qualities I demand of myself and my players.

I always emphasize the badge, not because it’s just for the fans but because I genuinely believe in it. I ask the players to feel the same. As for our scoring struggles, I won’t make any judgments. I’ll just say that goals are created by the team, not just the forwards, with midfielders joining in the box. We’ll try to improve by giving the players better guidance and by attacking the opponent’s box more often. Sooner or later, the goals will come. We’ll also aim to make better use of set pieces, which are crucial, and build confidence because when confidence grows, so does the conviction to finish chances decisively.”
